Stringent and evolving regulations have created challenging conditions for the sampling and remediation of Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS). ERG’s environmental professionals offer the experience necessary, along with excellent quality assurance and control, to effectively manage PFAS issues. The remediation of PFAS in water or soil requires state-of-the-art technology, or in many cases, a combination of new and existing technologies. ERG has completed several PFAS investigations at commercial and industrial properties and has been providing design services to remove PFAS in landfill leachate since early 2018.

Wixom Wastewater Treatment Plant
Wixom, MI

The City of Wixom Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) needed to remove per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from approximately 1.0 million gallons of impacted wastewater sludge. ERG provided consulting services for removal of PFAS contaminants and assisted the City of Wixom with the grant application to obtain funding from the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy.

Maverik, Inc.
Colorado Springs, CO

Maverik, Inc. needed to manage and treat PFAS contaminated dewatered groundwater. The dewatering process associated with underground storage tank (UST) installation at the site expected to produce approximately 100,000 gallons of water. However, due to the proximity to a creek and wet weather, the dewatering produced approximately 500,000 gallons of water. The receiving wastewater treatment plant requested to remove all PFAS to non-detectable levels following Colorado PFAS Policy 20-1 prior to discharging at the sewer.
